These Fried Apples are a delicious cross between apple pie and a churro. A delightful combination that keeps you wanting more!
Caramel Sauce
Apples and caramel are always a perfect pair. So is a churro and dulce de leche. Before you begin this recipe, be sure to check out my caramel dipping sauce recipe (click here)! These fried apples are an excellent match with the creamy bitter caramel.
Frying Tips
Be sure to pick an appropriate frying oil for this. Different types of oil smoke at different temperatures. Olive oil actually becomes harmful for consumption if over heated. I recommend frying with a high heat oil such as, canola, vegetable, sunflower, peanut, or soybean oil. Do not fill the pot more than halfway full to avoid a hot oil splatter. Use long tongs, or a frying utensil to navigate the food.
Apple Slicing
I have tried doing this recipe with apple rings. However, I recommend using apple slices. I found that the apple rings were dominated by the batter and the apple was too soft. The slices had a much more pleasant texture with a crisp shell on the outside and a soft apple inside that won’t mush.
