The Perfect Apetizer
The difference between an okay party and a true celebration is in the details. The little things, like the ambience, music, and food make a big difference. However, the last thing you want to do is prepare a terribly difficult menu item that will take precious time and cause undue stress. Instead, let this Asparagus Puff Pastry wow your friends and family without any hassle!
Simply Savory
Bold flavors and simplicity, what more could you want? The only thing better than a dish that is exceptionally tasty is a dish that is equally simple. So what makes such an elementary pastry so delectable? The key is in the flavors. Asparagus, gruyere, and prosciutto are all dynamic flavors that complement each other ever so kindly on a warm crispy pastry roll.
Working with Pastry Dough
Puff pastry dough is a type of laminated dough, also known as a layered dough. The process of making puff pastry dough is labor intensive and requires special folding techniques to create multiple buttery layers. This preparation usually takes about 2 days and is very temperature sensitive. However, nowadays most grocery stores carry prepared frozen puff pastry dough which works great for this recipe.
If you are new to pastry dough, have no fear, you’ve got this! The secret to manipulating the dough is temperature control. The dough should always be stored in the freezer until you are ready to begin cooking. Allow 2 hours for the puff pastry to defrost in the fridge and keep it cold until baking.
