For the Batter:

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk

To dust

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  2. Heat oil in a dutch oven or large pot to 350 degrees F (the oil shouldn’t smoke but it should bubble when you drop the apples in)
  3. Fully coat each apple slice in the batter, then emerge into the hot oil. Cook 4-5 apple slices at a time for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally.
  4. Remove the apples from the oil and immediately roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  6. Serve your apples immediately.
