Monte Cristo
These Monte Cristo Sliders are are inspired by the Monte Cristo sandwich. The Monte Cristo sandwich is an American sandwich inspired by the French “Croque-Monsieur”. It basically is a ham and cheese sandwich fried and often dipped in an egg mixture prior to frying. It is a delicious blend of savory and sweet often being paired with raspberry preserves and powdered sugar. This sandwich is kid friendly, as well as a easy crowd pleaser for parties!
Gruyere Cheese
I love to make my Monte Cristo sliders with Gruyere cheese. Gruyere cheese is most similar to Swiss cheese. Although, it is a bit more creamy and more flavorful than Swiss cheese but it can be hard to find. A good substitute for Gruyere is Swiss cheese, or Muenster! Its important to use a flavorful cheese like these to maintain the savory sweet balance, otherwise the sandwich may be too sweet.
Quick & Easy
The best part about these sliders is how quick and easy they are! Monte Cristo Sliders are perfect for picky eaters, a last minute meal, or easy entertaining! Simply assemble, and then quickly heat up in the oven.
Another thing that makes life so much easier are silicone baking mats! These make for a mess free bake! No more scraping burnt on food off your pans. I use these baking mats on the daily. Sometimes a simple wipe is all thats needed to clean them, but they are dishwasher safe as well. Linked below are the Amazon Baking Mats that I use.
